Srinagar: For the first time in 35 years, Kashmir observed a shutdown to protest the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam.

Here are 10 developments of the day

Massive protests and marches were held in Kashmir demanding justice for victims and punishment for perpetrators of terror crimes. Political parties cutting across ideological divide also took to the roads to protest against the killings.

Extra flights and controlled road travel were arranged for departing tourists. Panic has gripped the tourists after the terror attack: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed sorrow over the exodus of tourists from Kashmir Valley.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited hospitals and met the injured. He also interacted with the survivors. Later, he visited the ground zero of the terror attack. He was given a briefing about the incident and operations launched to hunt down militants.




Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Cabinet Committee on Security meeting in Delhi to chalk out the future course of action.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today chaired a security review meeting to ensure that directions passed by Home Minister Amit Shah are followed to bring those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack to justice. During the meeting, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is learnt to have said that the Centre remains fully committed to avenging the killing of citizens and to also ensure that such dastardly acts of terrorism do not recur.
