Tirumala: Following the terrorist attacks on tourists in Jammu and Kashmirās Pahalgam, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has tightened its security measures. It convened a meeting with 400 drivers and 50 owners operating taxis in Tirumala.
The meeting was chaired by TTD chief vigilance and security officer Harshavardhan Raju, in which an awareness program was organised about the procedures to be followed and how to repel terrorist attacks in the vicinity of the temple.

TTD is strict on prohibited items
Speaking on the occasion, Harshavardhan Raju said that drivers play a crucial role in the safety of Tirumala and asked the drivers to possess a valid driving license. Raju also said that prohibited items should not be brought to Tirumala, and if anyone is found to have brought any, they should immediately inform the police.
He warned that strict action would be taken if anyone violates the rules. If any thieves or criminals board taxis, they should immediately inform the police or dial 112 for safety reasons. āEveryone should remember that sometimes a small piece of information can save devotees from a big disaster. There is a great need for everyone in Tirumala to work like a soldier,ā he said.

Mock drill held
A mock drill was conducted by the security forces in Tirumala on Thursday evening.
In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir, the mock drill demonstrated how to deal with terroristsā infiltration and how to protect devotees. A mock drill was conducted at Sudarshan Choultry near Lepakshi Circle under the leadership of additional SP Ramakrishna to demonstrate how to repel terrorist attacks in Tirumala.

Assault dog, enemy attack and room intervention activities were demonstrated. In this mock drill by security forces, 28 Octopus commandos, 25 TTD Vigilance sleuths, 15 police and 10 APSP personnel participated and showcased their expertise.
