Amaravati: Jana Sena Party president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has officially announced his elder brother and party general secretary Konidela Nagababu as the partyās candidate for the MLC elections under MLA quota on behalf of the NDA alliance.
This decision comes after chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu stated his intention to induct Naga Babu into the State Cabinet on December 9. Currently, Naga Babu is neither an MLA nor an MLC in the Andhra Pradesh Legislature. So, he should be elected to either house within six months.
Nagababu, a popular film actor in the Telugu States, entered politics in 2009 through the Praja Rajyam Party, founded by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. Later, he aligned with younger brother Pawan and became an active member of Jana Sena. He contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Narasapuram and lost. He remained involved in the partyās activities as its general secretary. He has been a strong pillar of support for his brother. Babu, who is currently the national general secretary of the JSP, finally entered the political fray.
In the 2024 General Elections, Nagababu was supposed to contest from Anakapalli but had to step aside when the seat went to BJP as part of seat-sharing arrangements.
