'Perform or perish': Only those MLAs with good track record will get tickets, says Jagan
Jagan hinted that the selection of party candidates would be made six months before the elections.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 29 Sep 2022 4:40 AM GMTAmaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed all his MLAs to go to the village and ward secretariat and solve people's problems. Jagan passed the directions during a meeting with party MLAs and coordinators. He reiterated that the Gadapa Gadapaku program should be carried out in earnest for 16 days in a month, to target 175/175 assembly constituencies.
Jagan hinted that the selection of party candidates would be made six months before the elections. He hinted at replacing poor performers with good candidates. Sources said 27 MLAs have fared poorly.
"There are no shortcuts to passing an exam. There are no shortcuts to winning 175/175. Every leader should spend 16 days in his area. He should inform people about the welfare activities being carried out by the government. I will give tickets to you if your performance is good," he said. Since elections are just 19 months away, Jagan asked MLAs to follow the action plan, and bring out changes during the next review meeting in December. "We will have 70 days. Take the lunch box with you, and spend at least three days in each Secretariat," he said.
As of now, 87 percent of the houses have beneficiaries of our welfare schemes and the state has fulfilled 98.4 promises disbursing Rs 1.71 lakh crores. Jagan also asked to sanction works in the villages if necessary.
CM warned that the poorly performing MLAs would not get party tickets if they failed to improve their performance. He expressed dissatisfaction with the party regional coordinators and instructed them to perform better.
