Pillars of Support: Bhuvaneshwari, Brahmani support key to Naidu, Lokesh success

Amaravati: As the NDA comprising TDP, BJP and Jana Sena Party is heading towards a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh, two women – Nara Bhuvaneshwari and Nara Brahmani – need a special mention for their contribution to Telugu Desam Party’s win. Be it good times or tough times, both women always stood behind Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh as their pillars of support.

Nara Bhuvaneshwari is the wife of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Brahmani is the wife of (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh.

In a recent interview with NewsMeter, TDP Mangalagiri candidate Nara Lokesh spoke about how his spouse and his mother stepped out to campaign for the party during the 2024 AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

For Lokesh, it is an emotional thing. When Mr Naidu was arrested, it came as a shock to the entire family.

“Mr Naidu is an extremely docile person. The whole society knows it. When a corrupt person is arrested, every day a new scam of theirs comes out. But when Mr Naidu was arrested, his good work came out. If you look at it, Telugu people in almost 100 countries stood in solidarity with Mr Naidu by organising various programs,” said Lokesh.

Naidu’s arrest united family

Naidu’s spouse, who has usually stayed away from politics, came to the fore when Naidu was arrested on September 9 last year for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation when he was the chief minister in 2015 and was kept in Rajahmahendravaram Central Jail for a few weeks.

At that time, she toured several parts of the state under the ‘Nijam Gelavali’ campaign to console families of the ‘people who died’ after hearing the news about Naidu.

Bhuvaneswari travelled 10,000 km by road

Nara Bhuvaneswari has travelled to every karyakarta’s house who died when they heard about our leader Naidu’s arrest and supported their family financially. She almost travelled 9-10,000 kilometres by road, went to each house, stood by the family, and delivered a cheque from the party to them.

“Every karyakarta is a family to us. It’s very personal in that sense. My mother never came out even when her father was the chief minister and Brahmini campaigned rarely,” said Lokesh.

Nara Brahmani led special poll campaigns

Nara Brahmani on the other side campaigned was not very active in the last elections in Mangalagiri and always stayed away from political life and came out in support of her husband and father-in-law. She took up special campaigns in some of the constituencies, interacted with women farmers, and women entrepreneurs and listened to their problems.

In the 2024 AP Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Brahmani, the executive director of family-run Heritage Foods stood as a very strong pillar for Lokesh helping him win the Mangalagiri Constituency.
