Poachgate: Accused file plea in TS HC seeking stay on SIT investigation

Hyderabad: The three accused in the MLAs poaching case, on Tuesday, filed a plea in the Telangana High Court seeking a stay on all further proceedings of the SIT constituted by the Telangana government to investigate the case.

Junior counsel Valige Krishna Moorthy filed the interim petition on behalf of the petitioners Ramachandra Barathi alias Sathish Sharma V.K, Kore Nandu Kumar, and D.P.S.K.V.N Simhayaji who are all lodged at Chanchalguda Central prison in Hyderabad.

The petitioners contended that the SIT headed by Hyderabad commissioner of police C.V. Anand and six other members is influencing the investigation. They also said that Mr. Anand is the next in line for the post of the state DGP. They further submitted that the SIT is not conducting a fair and impartial investigation.

The petitioners contended that the Special Investigation Team appointed by the state government is headed by the same person who apprehended the petitioners and led the raiding party. They further noted that the police commissioner reached the scene of offense even before the crime was registered and gave interviews to TV channels. Therefore, the SIT investigation is unfair and is done with an ulterior political motive, they added.

It was further submitted that SIT is not acting independently. Moreover, they said the complaint lodged against the petitioners is false and is politically motivated and the FIR was registered by the police at the behest of the ruling party, i.e., the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The petitioners prayed before the High Court to stay all further proceedings of the SIT constituted by the state government. The plea may come for hearing before the High Court Division Bench on Wednesday.
