Hyderabad: Power was restored hours after the electricity department disconnected supply to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal ahead of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) mega IPL match scheduled to take place on April 5, Friday.
Sources told NewsMeter that the department has given the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) a dayās time to clear the pending bill of Rs 1.63 crore.
Earlier in the day, the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company (TSSPDCL) Habsiguda circle stalled the electricity supply, citing non-payment of Rs 1.63 crore.
Despite the electricity supply disconnected by the TSSPDCL, there was no disruption in the training sessions on Thursday evening as the HCA deployed generators as a backup facility.
In a statement, HCA president Jagan Mohan Rao said that the electricity supply was restored at the Uppal stadium and hurdles cleared for the conduct of the IPL match between SRH and CSK at 7:30 pm on Friday.
