‘Proud moment for Telugus’: CM Revanth hails Justice Sudershan Reddy as INDIA bloc VP pick

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy thanked the INDIA alliance for choosing Justice Sudarshan Reddy as the candidate for the elections of Vice-President.

CM Revanth said, “The fight is to protect the Constitution, and Justice Sudarshan Reddy is the apt choice who has legal and constitutional knowledge to protect the Constitution. He is a pride for Telugu people, and all the Telugu people must support him.”

Choice of INDIA Alliance

CM Revanth said that the selection of Justice Sudarshan Reddy was done by the INDIA alliance partners. “Justice Reddy is not a member of the Congress party. He was a part of the independent committee in Telangana for the Other Backward Classes reservation. He has good knowledge of the constitution, which needs to be protected in the country.”

Call for all parties to garner support

CM Revanth Reddy said, “Telangana Congress appeals to Bharat Rashtra Samithi, AIMIM to support the INDIA Alliance candidate. Justice Reddy is the pride of Telugus, and all Telugus must support him."

He further highlighted the way NT Rama Rao of Telugu Desam Party supported former prime minister PV Narshima Rao in the 1991 Nandyal by-election and appealed to TDP and Jana Sena to support Justice Reddy.

He made a direct appeal to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, former Telangana Chief Minister KCR, Jana Sena Party President Pawan Kalyan, Communist leaders and even the BJP MPs from both States to lend their support to Justice Sudarshan Reddy.

Non-partisan choice

CM Revanth stressed that Justice Sudarshan Reddy is not a member of the Congress party.

He is a ‘constitutional and legal expert’ and the Chairman of an Independent Expert Committee. This distinction, the Chief Minister argued, makes him a suitable candidate for all political parties to support without compromising their own positions.

OBC candidate

The National Democratic Alliance announced Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan as the candidate for the vice-president elections.

CM Revanth Reddy said, “CP Radhakrishnan is an OBC, but the real justice to OBCs has been done by Justice Sudharshan Reddy in Telangana. With his suggestion, we secured a 42 per cent reservation in the cabinet, passed it in the Assembly. These two bills are pending before the President of India. Sudarshan Reddy has constitutional knowledge and his efforts in Telangana for the reservation indicate that OBCs will benefit the most from his victory.”
