Pulivendula: CM Jagan files nomination, says sisters pulled into Opposition conspiracy

Pulivendula: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the people have to decide the successor of the legendary leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who brought development to Pulivendula and was later taken to even greater heights by the YSRCP government. It should not be those who joined hands with others trying to erase his name from the peopleā€™s minds, he added, during a public meeting before filing his nomination in Pulivendula on Thursday.

Taking a dig at the opposition leaders, he said, ā€œUnable to face me alone in the political arena, TDP-JSP-BJP have united to conspire against me. Unfortunately, my two sisters (referring to Sharmila and Sunitha) are being used as part of their conspiracy,ā€ said CM Jagan.

Jagan recalls YSRā€™s legacy

He asked the people to remember who worked to erase the reputation of the late YSR by filing cases and mentioning his name in the chargesheet post his demise.

ā€œIt was Congress which tried to hide YSRā€™s legacy. Congress didnā€™t even receive as many votes as NOTA did. Further, Congress was responsible for Andhra Pradeshā€™s bifurcation and neglected to include the special category status in the state reorganisation act. Will anyone vote for the Congress that has broken the state?ā€ asked CM Jagan.

He further noted that voting for Congress is like voting for Chandrababu. ā€œWho will benefit if our votes are divided? It will be Chandrababu and BJP,ā€ said CM Jagan.

Jagan defends Avinash Reddy

Claiming that his uncle and former Minister YS Vivekananda Reddy has a second wife and a child, Jagan stated that at the time of Vivekaā€™s murder, Avinash went to his residence in Pulivendula only after he received a call. ā€œAre all these not true?ā€ Jagan posed a question to his sisters Sharmila and Sunitha.

ā€œThe people of this district know who killed my uncle Vivekananda Reddy. Isnā€™t it true that Vivekananda had a second wife? Are the questions raised by Avinash (Reddy) in many interviews not reasonable? Avinash has done nothing wrong and I strongly believe that. So I gave the ticket for him to contest the election,ā€ asserted CM Jagan.

The chief minister added that they are trying to destroy Avinash Reddyā€™s life. ā€œOur younger sisters have become part of the opposition conspiracy. They are hanging around with those who unfairly defeated Chinnanna (Uncle Vivekananda) in the MLC election. And people should be aware of the oppositionā€™s conspiracy to gain political mileage,ā€ said CM Jagan.

ā€˜It is in our culture to be kindā€™

Expressing gratitude for his home constituents who stood with him during the difficult times, CM Jagan said, ā€œPulivendula is resonating with development, trust and a success story, and it is because of my late father YS Rajasekhara Reddy.ā€

ā€œPulivendula culture, Kadapa culture and Rayalaseema culture are the terms thrown at us. It is our culture to be kind and not to give in to threats,ā€ said Jagan.

ā€œNo one can beat Jagan in administration, welfare and schemes. They cannot claim to have done better than YSRCP in any field. Is Pulivendula ready to teach a lesson to those, who are trying to attack YSRā€™s legacy?ā€ asked CM Jagan.
