Rainy Sunday? Orange alert in five TS districts

Hyderabad: IMD Hyderabad on Saturday issued an orange alert in five Telangana districtsā€”Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, and Karimnagarā€”for 11 September. IMD said heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in these districts.

For Sunday, a yellow alert has also been issued in some districts, including Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Karimnagar.

In Hyderabad also a yellow alert has been issued for Sunday but only light to moderate rains are expected in the city, according to the IMD forecast. "Generally cloudy sky. Thunderstorms very likely to occur in the city. Surface winds are north-westerlies with wind speed around 12-14 kmph," read the IMD forecast.

For three days starting from 12 to 14 September, light to moderate rains are likely to occur in most districts of Telangana, said IMD.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, from 8:30 a.m to 6 p.m, the state's highest rainfall of 152 mm was recorded in Tekmal in Medak. Kulcharam in Medak recorded 147.5 mm and Alladurg recorded 147.3 mm. In Hyderabad, the highest rainfall of 20.3 mm was recorded at BR Ambedkar Bhavan in Quthballapur in Medchal Malkajgiri.
