Ready to go to jail hundred times’: KTR warns Congress against `political harassment’

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, asserting that repeated ACB summons and fabricated cases will not deter him or his party from questioning the ruling dispensation.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said, “I respect the law and will cooperate with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) inquiry, but warned that political harassment would be strongly resisted. This is the third time I’ve been summoned for an inquiry. I will appear even 30 times if needed. If they want to arrest me, let them. I am ready to go to jail a hundred times.”

Not new to Jail or Political Harassment

Recalling his earlier imprisonment during the Telangana statehood agitation, KTR said that such cases do not intimidate him. He accused the Congress government of using commissions and inquiries to settle political scores and suppress opposition voices.

“They summoned KCR and Harish Rao before the Kaleshwaram Commission just to enjoy a sadistic pleasure. Now they are doing the same with me in the Formula E case,” he said.

KTR defended the Formula E project, saying it placed Telangana on the global map. He alleged that the Congress government is indulging in diversionary tactics instead of addressing the promises it made to the public.

Sharp criticism of Revanth Reddy and Congress Governance

Taking direct aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, KTR accused the Congress government of reneging on its poll promises. “You gave 420 promises and fake six guarantees, now you must deliver. People are watching every move,” he warned.

The BRS leader also cited issues like the denial of 42 percent BC reservations in upcoming local body elections, irregular distribution of Rythu Bandhu funds, delay in monthly Rs 2,500 financial support for women, and the unfulfilled promise of two lakh government jobs. “Women, farmers, youth, and BC communities are all taking note of these betrayals,” KTR added.

Congress, BJP playing fake dramas

Accusing both the Congress and the BJP of political theatrics, KTR said the people of Telangana can see through their “fake dramas and conspiracies.” He reiterated that BRS would not stop questioning the government, no matter how many cases are filed against them. “I challenge Revanth Reddy if you're so confident, agree to a lie detector test,” he said, throwing down a political gauntlet.

Later, the BRS leader appeared before the ACB officials for a second round of questioning in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Formula E race case at their office in Banjara Hills.

TPCC’s Balmoor Venkat slams KTR over Formula E Case remarks

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Vice President and MLC Dr. Balmoor Venkat has launched a scathing attack on BRS Working President K T Rama Rao (KTR), questioning his recent remarks surrounding the ACB probe into the Formula E funds case.

Responding to KTR’s statement that he was ready to go to jail 100 times to protect Hyderabad's brand image, Dr. Venkat countered, "If you have done nothing wrong, why are you afraid of going to jail?" He alleged that KTR, during his ministerial tenure, released funds for the Formula E event in violation of official norms.

Dr. Venkat remarked that KTR now faces the consequences of his actions and cannot evade accountability by making emotional or provocative statements. “If allegations are levelled, not three or thirty — even 300 appearances before the ACB are necessary,” he stated.

The Congress leader also dismissed KTR’s insinuation of political vendetta, asserting that “had the Congress government truly indulged in revenge politics, you would already be in jail by now.” He pointed out that it was during the BRS regime that current Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was imprisoned, allegedly under trumped-up charges.

“Weren’t you the one who celebrated Revanth Reddy’s jail time then?” Venkat asked.

Continuing his tirade, the MLC said the people of Telangana are now aware of the misdeeds committed by KTR and his family and are prepared to hold them accountable.

“If you truly want to go to jail, the public — and we too — support that wish. You’ll end up there not by choice but because of your own wrongdoings.”

Dr. Venkat concluded with a stern warning: “Choose your words wisely, KTR. If you don’t change your ways, be prepared to face people’s backlash.”
