Rebels sulk, Revanth supporters rejoice: AICC decides not to change Telangana Congress leadership
Sources said when Revanth Reddy was made TPCC Chief, some leaders tried to raise caste bogey to pin him down.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 26 Dec 2022 3:28 AM GMTHyderabad: A. Revanth Reddy had the last laugh after AICC decided to continue him as Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president for now. AICC envoy Digvijay Singh, who was in Hyderabad for two days, submitted a detailed report to the All India Congress Committee.
Congress high command has indicated that rebel leaders from the state will be invited to Delhi to discuss the issue. Singh spoke to both factions and warned them against indiscipline. He also warned them against leaks to the media.
Congress high command is not in the mood to change state party leadership because they think the current TPCC chief is fighting aggressively against the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Digvijay met around 60 leaders of different groups during his 2 days visit to Hyderabad.
"Situation has become more complicated. It is now an issue of prestige for us. We tried hard to convince AICC and apprise them about the situation. But I think they don't want to understand the pain of senior party leaders," said a leader of an anti-Revant faction.
Sources said when Revanth Reddy was made TPCC Chief, some leaders tried to raise caste bogey to pin him down. However, they failed. Sources said now Congress leaders of different castes have joined hands again to dethrone the TPCC chief. Revanth Reddy is being held responsible for Marri Shashidhar Reddy's resignation. He has now joined BJP. Party insiders said AICC has told the TPCC leaders to take corrective steps and work together. They have also been warned of action if they did not mend ways.
