By Sistla Dakshina Murthy Published on 27 July 2024 12:53 PM GMTHyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy claimed that the government has unearthed corruption of around Rs 700 crores that occurred in the Sheep Distribution Scheme under the previous BRS regime. He was speaking during a discussion on the State Budget 2024-25 in the ongoing Assembly sessions here on Saturday.
Revanth challenges BRS MLAs with enquiry
The chief minister challenged the BRS MLAs to face an inquiry into the scams unearthed in the Sheep Distribution Scheme, KCR kits and distribution of Bathukamma sarees for the women in the State during their decade of rule. He alleged that BRS had supplied the sarees purchased from Surat as Bathukamma sarees and deceived the people of Telangana.
āBRS MLA T Harish Rao who spoke about the debts during their rule didnāt mention the details of the various properties sold out. Despite being defeated in the elections, the attitude of the BRS MLAs didnāt change at all. The previous BRS regime had sold out the Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR) for a meagre amount of Rs 7,000 crores which costs more than Rs 1 lakh crores,ā the chief minister said.
Taking a dig at the previous BRS regime for ignoring the completion of irrigation projects in the State, Revanth Reddy said that former chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) had utterly failed in completing the irrigation projects in Palamuru district. He also alleged that several lands in Ranga Reddy district were sold out by the KCR government and did not provide water for irrigation purposes and transformed the region into a desert.
āCongress committed to installing smart metresā
Reacting to Harish Raoās claims that the BRS did not agree to fix metres to agriculture pump sets despite pressure from the Centre, Revanth Reddy alleged that the BRS party was lying about the fact that it had a tripartite agreement with the Centre in 2017 to install metres to agricultural pump sets. He asserted that the BRS government also committed to installing smart meters in every home in the State and fixing metres to feeders by December 31, 2018. Harish Rao should verify all the records before passing on baseless remarks on the Congress government, he said.
Revanth Reddy also appealed to speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to strike out all of Harish Raoās statements on installing metres on agricultural pump sets from the records, claiming that Rao was deceiving the House with false claims.
The tripartite agreement was also copied by the chief minister and given to Harish Rao to review in the House. Prior to this, Harish Rao claimed that the BRS government was denied about Rs 30,000 crores for five years because it had refused to comply with the Centreās directive to install metres on agricultural pump sets.
