Revanth: BJP sending Delhi Police to put false cases on me, TPCC

Hyderabad: A day after the Special Cell Delhi issued a notice to chief minister Revanth Reddy in connection with the doctored video of Union home minister Amit Shah, CM Revanth stated that just like the ED, CBI and IT, the BJP government is sending the Delhi Police to Telangana and putting up false cases on him and the members of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).

He stated that allegations and legal actions against a chief minister for social media posts raise concerns about the misuse of power. ā€œIt is the home minister department that has made a complaint on me. They have made false allegations about me for a random post on social media,ā€ said CM Revanth.

ā€œThe involvement of the home department and non-bailable charges against a chief minister signify a threat to national security. The behaviour of the Delhi Police operating under the Central Home Ministry indicates a concerted effort to suppress dissent. Itā€™s a call to the people to consider the implications of their votesā€”support for BJP could jeopardise reservations, while Congress aims to expand them,ā€ stated CM Revanth.

"I questioned BJP. When I did that, PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah resorted to a vengeful attitude and registered a case against me in Delhi," he said.

He described the contest in the Lok Sabha elections as between "Telangana pride and Gujarat dominance".

ā€˜BJP wants to abolish reservationā€™

On Wednesday, addressing a press conference at his home, CM Revanth Reddy said that RSS ideology revolves around the abolition of reservation, which the BJP aims to implement.

ā€œThe year 2000 gazette notification and subsequent attempts by the BJP to alter the Constitution underscore this threat. Congressā€™ move to increase reservations, led by Rahul Gandhiā€™s decision to conduct a BC census, stands in stark contrast. The BJPā€™s strategies, including the formation of governments in eight states and attempts to nullify reservations, highlight their intentions. They are planning to remove reservations for corporate sectors,ā€ said Reddy.

Speaking about the claims by the BJP on reservations for Muslims, he said, ā€œThere are no religious-based reservations in this country. Muslims are in the BC-E category.ā€

ā€œThe BJP, which says it is against cow slaughter, Lulu brothers, who are Kerala Muslim investors, have slaughterhouses in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. BJP is the one who gave permission for them,ā€ he alleged.

ā€œWill Mohan Bhagwat oppose the book written by Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar? Will they oppose the statement of MG Vaidya? If you are against these, then take action against them,ā€ he added.

ā€œModi is a converted BC. Modi belonged to a forward caste before becoming a chief minister. After becoming the chief minister, he merged his caste into BCs,ā€ CM Revanth alleged. He said that the choice is between the NDA and the INDIA alliance with differing stances on constitutional amendments.

Four weeks to report to notice

Further, the Congress party has asked for four weeks to respond to the notice issued by the Delhi Police to CM Revanth in connection with the doctored video of Union home minister Amit Shah.

NewsMeter had debunked this claim on April 27. In the original video, captured by many media outlets, Amit Shah called religious-based reservations unconstitutional and talked of scraping Muslim reservations in Telangana.

The Telangana BJP unit filed a complaint to the Cyber Crime police station for fabricating and morphing the speech of Amit Shah on TPCC President Revanth Reddy.

The notice said some doctored videos are being circulated by users of Facebook and Twitter, spreading misleading information to create disharmony among communities, likely to affect public tranquillity and bring public order issues.

The FIR has not been uploaded being sensitive in nature. The date has been marked unknown and the place of occurrence has been recorded as over the Internet in Delhi and other parts of India. The case was booked under sections 469 and 505(1) of the IPC.
