Role of Osmania University in State’s education

The university, which is in the heart of Hyderabad, is not only an education hub but also a politically sensitive zone. The university has a historical significance and plays a pivotal role in shaping the State.

CM Revanth Reddy addressed the deans, faculty, non-teaching staff, students and alumni of the university at Tagore Auditorium.

Rs 1,000 crores for OU

CM Revanth said, “I want to elevate Osmania University to the level of Oxford University. I request everyone to form a committee and decide on the requirements of the university, and the funds will be provided. This university and Telangana State are ‘inseparable twins’, said CM Revanth.

CM announces OU visit in December to speak to students directly

CM Revanth Reddy said that he will visit Osmania University again in December. He said, “I will visit the Osmania University Arts College in December and speak to the students directly, and I don’t want any police bandobast.” CM Revanth spoke about the security detail, as his visit has allegedly resulted in some students being arrested for protesting his visit.

He cautioned students to be aware of the false propaganda that is being spread on WhatsApp and social media. He said, “Protests when the work is not being done. Don’t go against those who are trying to bring benefits to you.”

He said, “I have no land to give away, no treasury to distribute. The only thing I can give you is education. Only education can change your destiny and make you wealthy and virtuous.” He shared his personal experience of coming from a background of poverty, stating that his government understands how to overcome it.

CM promises to reinstate Professor Kodandaram as MLC

Recently, the Supreme Court rebuked the Congress government’s nomination of Professor Kodandaram Reddy as an MLC.

Speaking about the SC order, CM Revanth said, “I will make Professor Kodandaram an MLC again. The Opposition has been against him, even though he is from the education sector and wants to bring a change.”

Need for discussion on the menace of drugs

The menace of drugs such as ganja in society, especially in educational institutions, is concerning.

He attributed the problem to a lack of vibrant discussions in educational institutions, noting that even students in small colleges are falling prey to this menace. He said, “EAGLE has been created to control this menace in the State.”

OU is a cradle of leaders

The CM spoke about the rich legacy of Osmania University, which has shaped the nation’s politics and whose alumni have spread all over the country and the world.

He said, “Former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, former Union Minister Jaipal Reddy and former Chief Minister Marri Chenna Reddy are some of the examples. The aim of this government is to restore the past glory of Osmania University. This university is the birthplace of the Telangana movement. This is a place not just for protests but also for intellectual and ideological discussions.”
