Revanth Reddy slams Harish Rao, KCR for ‘Redesigning Kaleshwaram to get richer than Nizam’
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday alleged that former minister T Harish Rao misled the people by concealing key facts about the Kaleshwaram project and accused the previous BRS government of redesigning the project for personal gain.
Records suppressed despite approvals
During the debate on the P.C. Ghose Commission Report in the Assembly, the Chief Minister pointed out that both the Union Government and hydrology experts had confirmed water availability in the Pranahita-Chevella project in 2009 and again in 2014.
“Why was there a need to repeatedly seek re-examination despite clear approvals? Once an MLA wins and secures the certificate, does anyone ask for a re-check?” Revanth questioned, alleging that Harish Rao had deliberately suppressed records.
Commission finds errors
Citing page 98 of the Commission report, Revanth Reddy said it clearly exposed the lapses committed by Harish Rao. He demanded that the remarks made by the former minister in the Assembly be expunged, accusing him of “spreading venom” against those who presented the facts.
Redesign for ‘Vested Interests’
The Chief Minister further charged that former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Harish Rao redesigned the Kaleshwaram project “with the evil intention of becoming richer than the Nizam.”
He asserted that the Maharashtra government never opposed construction at Tummidihatti and had only suggested reducing the dam height.
“Defying the recommendations of expert engineers, the project was shifted to Medigadda for vested interests,” he alleged.
Sharp attack on Harish Rao
Taking a dig at the BRS leader, Revanth said, “If Vidyasagar Rao were alive today, he would have jumped into Kaleshwaram unable to hear these lies.” He added that Harish Rao continues to act like a minister, repeating “falsehoods” to cover up past mistakes.
