Road roller magic: 42k liquor bottles worth Rs.2.14 crore destroyed in Prakasam

Prakasam: Destroying a lot of bottles with a road roller, doesn't it look like a film shoot? But it's not. It is the Prakasam police destroying 42,810 liquor bottles worth Rs.2.14 crore with a road roller. The Prakasam police destroyed all the illicit liquor bottles they have been collecting since 2019 under the National Highway Bridge near Agraharam village in Ongole on Wednesday.

According to the Prakasam District SP Malika Garg, illicit liquor bottles have been seized in various police stations and SEB station purviews across the district since 2019. The special enforcement bureau officials and police have conducted raids and inspections in the district and seized large quantities of domestic and local illicit liquor. A total of 42,810 liquor bottles of various brands were seized in 904 cases (other State NDPL cases and Duty Paid Liquor without Heal's cases) registered in SEB stations and Police Stations in the district.

As a part of a special drive conducted in the last two months, Police and SEB officials have registered over 200 cases and arrested more than 200 persons. "From now, the enforcement will be carried out efficiently across the district to crack down on illegal activities like ID liquor, illicit liquor, Ganja (cannabis), gutka, and gambling activities. We will enforce more effectively to eradicate illicit and ID liquor", SP said.
