Hyderabad: Hyderabad police have registered a case of rape and murder after the body of the 9-year-old tribal girl was found in suspicious circumstances at Khaja Bagh colony in Saidabad.
On March 23, the tribal girl was found dead. Victim's family alleged that the crime scene was altered in a bid to camouflage it as a suicide.
The victim's mother said when she and her husband returned from work they noticed people around their hut. When they entered inside, they found their eldest daughter dead. She said they found one ligature injury on the neck. The victim was disrobed and her upper garment and lower pant were not on her body.
She said before leaving for work, her three daughters and brother-in-law's children were playing in the hut. When they enquired with her daughter as to what had happened, they told that they were playing outside the house, the victim tied a thread to her neck and hung herself. They said her brother-in-law's daughter cut the thread with a knife and the victim fell on the ground.
Later her brother-in-law's daughter informed the neighbor. Other neighbors also rushed in and found her daughter dead. The complainant also noticed a skipping rope tied to the roof and found an injury mark on the body.
The mother suspected the version of the children. She said her daughters are unaware of the concept of suicide, and that someone must have deliberately killed her and made it look like a suicide.
On March 29, the victim's father lodged another complaint stating his neighbor Shaik Mastan after knowing that nobody is present in the house allegedly raped his daughter.
He said that the place where the girl allegedly committed suicide in the house is only a few feet in height and the clothes on the dead body were not found. Plus other children were outside the house.
After receiving the complaint, the police added 376(AB), 302 IPC and Section 5(m0 of POCSO and Section 3(2) (v) of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, to the FIR. The investigative officer said that they are waiting for the postmortem report and further investigation is on.
