Sankranti gift for govt employees: CM Revanth signs off on DA, welfare package

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy signed off on the Sankranti gift to employees regarding Dearness Allowance (DA) on Monday at the Secretariat during the release of Telangana Gazetted Officers Central Association.

Welfare initiatives for employees

The Chief Minister unveiled benefits aimed at providing long-term security for the state’s workforce. These include:

Rs 1 crore accidental insurance: The government will launch a new policy providing Rs 1 crore in accidental insurance coverage for all government employees.

Retirement benefits: Addressing a long-standing grievance, the CM assured that the ‘plight of retired employees’ in accessing their benefits would be resolved imminently.

Healthcare reform: New plans are being formulated to streamline healthcare services for the 10 lakh-strong government workforce.

District and mandal reorganisation

Responding to widespread public demand, CM Reddy announced the formation of a special commission headed by a retired High Court or Supreme Court judge.

The commission will tour the state to gather public opinion on the rationalisation of districts and mandals, which the CM alleged were ‘divided arbitrarily’ under the previous BRS administration. A final policy on this reorganisation is expected to be finalised during the upcoming budget session after all-party discussions.

Rebutting opposition claims

The chief minister dismissed allegations from BRS that employee unions have colluded with the government. Using metaphorical language, he referred to the opposition leadership as ‘Shukracharya in a farmhouse,’ accusing them of trying to create a rift between the government and its staff.

“We are all one family,” Reddy said, addressing the employees. “I will stand by you as a brother. In return, I appeal to you to work hard for the development of the state and provide good governance to the people.”
