Hyderabad: The Supreme Court has dismissed petitions challenging the recruitment of 563 candidates for Group-1 posts by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC).

Terming the verdict a landmark win, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said that the judicial clearance reinforces his government’s commitment to transparency and dedication toward the state's youth.

A major relief for aspirants

In a statement following the apex court's ruling, CM Revanth Reddy noted that this judgment brings immense relief to thousands of aspirants who had spent years in uncertainty.

"For ten years, these candidates waited with hope, often bearing the burden of their parents' struggles and the anxiety of whether they would ever secure a government job. This verdict is a massive victory for those who were worried about their future," the Chief Minister said.

Hurdles cleared

The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s swift action following its formation, noting that the administration issued notifications, conducted examinations, and distributed appointment letters within months.

"We successfully cleared the hurdles created by malicious forces who attempted to obstruct these recruitments. We have ensured that the youth are now active participants in the state's reconstruction as the first batch of Group-1 officers of our government," he added, extending his congratulations to the newly appointed officials.

Rebuilding faith in TGPSC

CM Revanth Reddy also lauded the TGPSC for its role in the process, specifically praising the Chairman, officials, and staff for their efforts. He stated that the government has successfully overhauled the TGPSC system, restoring the faith of the unemployed youth in the recruitment process.

"In line with our government's vision and resolve, the TGPSC has been revamped to ensure complete transparency. The commission has completed these recruitments with the utmost integrity, and the staff deserves special commendation for this achievement," said Revanth Reddy.

Background of the Case

The Supreme Court’s decision puts an end to a legal battle that had stalled the recruitment process. A plea challenged the TGPSC’s recruitment methodology, resulting in multiple petitions in the High Court and, eventually, in the Supreme Court.

With this judicial green light, the recruitment of 563 Group-1 officers is now finalized, clearing the path for the inductees to formally join the state administration.
