Former YSRCP MLA from Gannavaram Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan arrested

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested YSRCP leader and former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan in the SC/ST atrocity case.

He was picked up from his residence at My Home Bhoja Apartments in Raidurgam.

He was shifted to Vijayawada from Hyderabad. He was arrested by Patamata police in the SC/ST atrocity case.

Vamsi is allegedly facing charges of abduction, intimidation, and threatening witnesses and the complainant in one case.

In the notice, police said that he had bee arrested under sections 140 (1), 308, 351 (3), read with 3 (5) of BNS of Patamata police station in Vijayawada, and also under section 3 (2), section 3 (1) of SC/ ST Act 2016.

He is one of the accused in TDPā€™s Gannavaram party office attack case. Earlier, the police arrested some accused in the same case and now he is arrested.

In February 2023, the TDP office in Gannavaram was vandalized, with vehicles damaged, allegedly by YSRCP activists and followers of Vamsi.

Police have been investigating the incident, leading to multiple arrests, including Vamsiā€™s PA Raja, and other associates.

Four days ago, the Andhra Pradesh High Court reserved its verdict to February 20 on the petition filed by Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan seeking anticipatory bail in the case related to the attack on the TDP office at Gannavaram in Krishna district. After hearing the arguments from both sides, Justice Vakkalagadda Radha Krishna Krupa Sagar reserved the verdict and said it would be pronounced on February 20.
