Secunderabad: Telangana High Court granted conditional bail to 16 students accused of arson at the Secunderabad railway stationJustice K. Surender directed the petitioners to furnish sureties of Rs. 20,000 each.
The students were part of a mob that was protesting against the central government's Agnipath scheme. During the protest, the youth allegedly set ablaze three trains and damaged electric locomotive engines and other public property.
Railway Police, Secunderabad booked cases against the petitioners under Section 143, 147, 324, 435,427,448,336,332,341,120 etc., and 150 151, 152 Indian Railway Act and Sec 3 of PDPP Act. Justice K. Surender heard three petitioners filed by Raja Surender Kumar Suri and nine others from Sangareddy, Gadwal, Mahbubnagar, and Medak.
Another petition was filed by M. Ranjit and 4 others from Karimnagar, Bhongir Yadadri. K. Sunil Kumar and others from Mahbubnagar and Adilabad had also sought bail
