Several injured after two trains collide in Vizianagaram

Visakhapatnam: Several passengers were injured after a passenger train going to Rayagada in Odisha from Visakhapatnam derailed in Vizianagaram district on Sunday. Unconfirmed reports say three passengers died and more to be reported.

The incident happened when Train No 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger rammed into Train No 08504 Visakhapatnam-Ragada. Three coaches were derailed.

DRM Saurabh Prasad reached site and rescue operations are in full swing. Local administration and NDRF were informed for assistance and ambulances.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed shock over the train accident incident at Kantakapalli in Vizianagaram district. CM ordered to take immediate relief measures. The Chief Minister ordered to send as many ambulances as possible from Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, the nearest districts of Vizianagaram, and to make all kinds of arrangements in nearby hospitals to provide good medical care.

The Chief Minister has issued orders to coordinate other government departments including health, police and revenue to take quick relief measures and ensure that the injured receive prompt medical services.

Ex-gratia announced

The Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh each to the injured from the State and a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 each to the injured from others states.

Union Railway Minister Aswini Vaishnav telephoned the Chief Minister over the accident.

The Chief Minister informed him that rescue teams have been sent to the accident site and Education Minister B.Satyanarayana, District Collector and the SP are supervising the relief and rescue operations. He further told the Union Minister that all arrangements were made in the nearby hospitals to treat the injured

Trains cancelled

Due to accident of passenger train between Kantakapalli – Alamanda in main line of Waltair Division the following trains were cancelled

Cancellation of trains:

1. The train No. 08527 Raipur- Visakhapatnam passenger leaving Raipur on October 30 is cancelled

2. The train No. 08528 Visakhapatnam- Raipur Passenger leaving Visakhapatnam on October 30 is cancelled

Diversion of trains

The following trains will run in diverted route via Titlagarh-Raipur-Nagpur-Bllarsha-Vijayawada instead of regular route Visakhapatanm-Vijayawada details given below.

1. The train No. 03357 Baruni-Coimbatore Special Express leaving Barauni on October 29 will run in diverted route.

2. The train No. 18189 Tata-Ernakulam Express leaving Tata on October 29 will run diverted route.

3. The train No. 11020 Bhubaneswar- CST Mumbai- Konark express leaving Bhubaneswar on October 29 will run diverted route.

4. The train No. 12703 Howrah-Secundrabad Falknuma express leaving Howrah on October 29 will run diverted route.

5. The train No. 12245 Howrah-SVM Benguluru Duranto express leaving Howrah on October 29 will run a diverted route.
