Sigachi Industries blast: Sangareddy police book management for culpable homicide

Hyderabad: Sangareddy district police have booked the management of Sigachi Industries for culpable homicide after a deadly explosion at its Pashamylaram pharma plant claimed 36 lives.

Officials revealed that the factory did not possess a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department to operate.

Debris cleared, no additional bodies found

Superintendent of Police Paritosh Pankaj said debris removal at the site is nearly complete. ā€œAs per the NDRF team, the debris removal work is almost over, and no more bodies have been found. We are still verifying the missing persons list,ā€ he told reporters on Wednesday.

One team each from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and HYDRAA remains stationed at the site as a precaution in case of any further developments.

The victim’s son alleges safety warnings were ignored

The case was registered based on a complaint from Ranjanala Sai Yashwanth, son of deceased worker Rajanala Venkat Jagan Mohan (56), who had worked as manager (accounts and dispatch) at Sigachi Industries for over two decades.

Yashwanth said he received a call from his uncle on the morning of the incident, informing him about a major fire that broke out around 9.30 am. ā€œWhen I reached the Patancheru morgue, I found my father’s body among the victims,ā€ he stated in the FIR.

He also added that his father and other employees had repeatedly warned management about the risks of using outdated equipment, but their concerns were ignored.

Police investigation underway

Sangareddy police confirmed that a detailed investigation is in progress to establish criminal culpability. ā€œWe are recording statements of employees and have sought reports from the factory inspectorate and fire department. Arrests will follow once we gather conclusive evidence,ā€ a senior official stated.

Case registered under BNS

BDL Bhanur police have booked Sigachi’s management under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), and 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
