Hyderabad: In a move aimed at easing commuter stress amid fuel shortage concerns, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced a 30 per cent fare discount on Metro AC and Metro Deluxe bus services within the city.
The initiative is designed to encourage people to shift from private vehicles to public transport and avoid long queues at petrol pumps.
TGSRTC Vice Chairman and Managing Director Y Nagi Reddy, IPS, urged citizens not to panic over fuel availability and instead opt for safe, affordable and comfortable bus travel.
‘Why struggle for petrol when buses are available?’
Calling upon commuters to make smarter travel choices, Nagi Reddy said there is no need to endure long waits at fuel stations when efficient public transport options are readily available.
“Don’t stand in long queues at petrol bunks. Travel safely by bus and enjoy a comfortable journey,” he appealed.
30% discount on AC, deluxe services
As part of the special measure, TGSRTC is offering a 30 per cent reduction in ticket fares on Metro AC and Metro Deluxe buses across Hyderabad.
The decision comes in the backdrop of a perceived fuel shortage situation triggered by prevailing global tensions, with authorities aiming to provide relief to daily commuters.
Save time and avoid long queues
Officials highlighted that commuters are spending hours waiting at petrol stations.
By choosing RTC buses, passengers can save valuable time and reach their destinations faster without unnecessary delays.
Fuel conservation for national interest
Emphasising the importance of fuel conservation, Nagi Reddy noted that every drop of petrol matters during times of uncertainty.
Shifting to public transport, he said, will not only reduce individual fuel consumption but also contribute to the country’s economic stability.
Eco-friendly travel option
The TGSRTC MD also underlined the environmental benefits of reduced private vehicle usage. Fewer vehicles on the roads would ease traffic congestion and lower pollution levels.
Passengers were encouraged to use electric buses wherever available, contributing to greener and cleaner urban mobility.
Affordable and comfortable travel
With the discounted fares, AC bus travel becomes significantly more affordable. Nagireddy said commuters can now enjoy comfortable, air-conditioned travel at a lower cost, avoiding the burden of rising fuel expenses.
Public urged to utilise the offer
Reiterating his appeal, Nagi Reddy urged Hyderabad residents to take full advantage of this ‘golden opportunity’ and shift to public transport to avoid both traffic hassles and fuel-related inconvenience.
The TGSRTC MD expressed hope that citizens would respond positively and help ease pressure on fuel demand while ensuring smoother urban mobility.
