Hyderabad: Sunrises Hyderabad, HCA end feud over free tickets, to follow standard allocation guidelines
Hyderabad: It seems like the feud between the IPL cricket team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) over alleged blackmail for free tickets has reached a closure. This has also put an end to the fear among fans of the game in Hyderabad that SRH would decide to stop playing at their home ground amid its rift with the HCA.
Three days after the controversial email from SRH to the HCA, both parties met on Tuesday and amicably resolved the issue.
A joint statement released by SRH and the HCA stated, “In response to various reports circulating in mainstream and digital media regarding issues between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), HCA secretary R Devraj convened a meeting with SRH officials on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal. The meeting was attended by SRH representatives Kiran, Saravanan and Rohit Suresh.”
‘10 per cent of the available stadium capacity’
The letter mentioned that during the discussions, SRH proposed strictly adhering to the existing tri-party agreement between SRH, HCA, and the BCCI, ensuring that 10 per cent of the available stadium capacity across all sections is allocated accordingly.
HCA, in turn, proposed maintaining the existing allocation of passes in each category, in line with the long-standing practice followed over the years.
Following in-depth discussions and further telephonic deliberations with SRH CEO Shanmugam, the following resolution was agreed upon:
- The category allocation of 3,900 complimentary passes to HCA will remain unchanged, consistent with established practice.
- HCA and SRH remain committed to working together amicably to enhance the spectator experience at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium.
While HCA confirmed it as an official statement from both parties, SRH’s statement was more noncommittal. When NewsMeter reached out to SRH general manager Srinath, whose emails blew the lid off of the issue, ‘no comments’ was his statement.
