Sushant Singh suicide case: Mumbai NCB arrests Siddharth Pithani from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Narcotics Control Bureaus (NCB) Mumbai, has arrested Sushant Singh Rajput's friend Siddharth Pithan in the actor's suicide case. Pithani was one of few people who were present in the house when the actor allegedly committed suicide. Pithani was arrested on 26th May, 2021 in Hyderabad.

Pithani had accused Sushant's family of pressurizing him to give statements against Rhea Chakraborty Earlier, Pithani was questioned by CBI. The agency also conducted forensic examination of his phone. The examination revealed that Pithani was in continuous touch with those peddlers who were supplying drugs to Sushant. Pithani also did not respond to the summons of the NCB.

In an official statement the sleuths of NCB said, "In a follow up action in NCB Mumbai CR 16/20, a team from Mumbai arrested one of the absconding accused Siddhartha Pithani at Hyderabad on 26 May. Earlier notices u/s 67 NDPS Act were served to accused but he did not join the investigation".

Days before the arrest, NCB Mumbai gathered intelligence about the whereabouts of the accused in Hyderabad.

"Accused Siddhartha Pithani was apprehended and his statement was recorded and he was duly arrested under section 8(c) r/w 20(b)(II)(a),27,28 & 29 r/w 27-A & 35 of NDPS Act , 1985 and produced before the court in Hyderabad. Later, the court granted his transit warrant and the said accused has been brought to Mumbai. He was produced before CMM court in Mumbai on 28th May. The court has granted NCB custody till June 1st. Further investigation is underway", officials said.
