TCS gets 21.6 acres in Vizag for just 99 paisa to build IT hub

Amaravati: The minister for IT and Electronics, Nara Lokesh, has successfully piloted allotment of 21.16 acres in Visakhapatnam for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for 99 paisa.

The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet that met at the Secretariat on Tuesday approved the allotment of the 21.16 acres to TCS for their facility. Nara Lokesh visited Tata House in October last year and made a strong pitch for TCS to set up a large development centre in Andhra Pradesh. The company said it aimed to invest Rs 1,370 crore in this unit to create 12,000 jobs.

With continuous follow-ups and discussions between the State Government and the TCS, Lokesh ultimately became successful in the land allotment to the TCS. It is a bold decision to signal to the industry that Andhra Pradesh is serious about attracting IT investments.

In the past, prime minister Narendra Modi took Tata Motors to Sanand in Gujarat by allotting land to them at 99 paisa. This marked a landmark moment for the auto industry in Gujarat.

The TCS facility will be a significant boost for Andhra Pradesh and Visakhapatnam, where the government has planned to establish a ā€˜Data City.ā€™

Cabinet clears SIPB proposals on investments of companies:

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved the proposals made by the State Investment aPromotion Board (SIPB) at its meeting held on April 10.

1. The SIPB till now has given its nod for Rs 4.62 lakh investments to create over 4.23 lakh jobs.

2. The Cabinet also approved the minor mineral policy-2025 which will increase the mining products along with attracting investors besides increasing the activities and resolving the previous issues..

3. The Cabinet gave its clearance for the proposal moved by the Social Welfare Department on draft ordinance for implementing the sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SCs) for unified and equitable progress among various sub-castes in the State.

4. The Cabinet cleared the proposals for approval to confirm the GO Ms No 49, 50 and 51 issued by the Industries and Commerce Department on April 9. This will enhance the financial strength and creditworthiness of the Industries and Commerce Department and the AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC).

5. Also, a proposal to allow the issuance of bonds worth Rs 9,000 cr is cleared by the Cabinet.

6. The expansion of steel plant at Vizianagaram by the Maha Maya Industries, metal manufacturing unit at Sri City in Tirupati and the establishment of a data centre at Visakhapatnam are also approved.

7. The Cabinet okayed the proposal to issue LOA for the approval of L1 bids for construction of the Assembly building with Rs 617.33 cr and the High Court building with Rs 786.05 cr.

8. The Cabinet gave its nod for allotting 6.35 acres at Nadimpalem of Pattipadumandal in Guntur district to the ESIC either at free of cost or at nominal price for 100-bedded hospital and for constructing employee residential quarters. Also, 30 acres of land at IS Raghavapuram in Dwaraka Tirumala mandal in Eluru district at free of cost to Lord Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple.

9. The proposal to allot 87.56 acres at Krishnapatnam village and 220.81 acres at Nelaturu village of Muthukur mandal in SPSR Nellore district to APIIC to establish industrial parks also are cleared.

10. The proposals made by the Water Resources department, including the move to hand over the remaining Polavaram works to M/s Navayuga Engineering Company Limited are also approved. The Cabinet gave its nod for the appointment of a videographer on outsourcing basis with a monthly salary of Rs 60,000 in the peshi of the Deputy Chief Minister. The post will continue in line with the tenure of the Deputy Chief Minister.
