TDP group clashes: Nandyal police arrest former minister Akhila Priya
Meanwhile, Akhila Priya too filed a counter case against Subba Reddy and his followers
By Sri Lakshmi Muttevi Published on 17 May 2023 3:24 PM GMTNandyal: Nandyal police arrested Akhila Priya from her residence at Allagadda. Her husband Bhargav Ram, her personal assistant Mohan and few other associates of Akhila Priya were also taken into custody.
Akhila Priya was questioned on her involvement in clashes. She was taken for medical checkup and was produced in the court. Akhil Priya is sent for 14 days remand.
This follows the alleged attack on former AP Minor Irrigation Corporation chairman A.V. Subba Reddy by the supporters of former minister Bhuma Akhilapriya on Tuesday. Police booked cases on 11 members in the attack of Subba Reddy. While four were arrested, the other members are absconding.
Tension has gripped Allagadda area after the arrests. Police have deployed additional manpower to avoid clashes.
On Tuesday, clashes occurred between supporters of former Minister Bhuma Akhilapriya and senior TDP leader AV Subbareddy during Nara Lokeshās Yuva Galam Padayatra.
It is said that both of them had arranged for separate welcome to Lokesh at Kothapalli, which sparked tension. The Party also served show-cause notice to the former minister and asked her to send her response in a week.
In the video, Akhila Priya is seen arguing with the the other group. During the heated arguments between the two groups, a few activists from both groups including AV Subba Reddy, were reportedly injured. Subba Reddy was escorted to safety by his supporters with the police providing protection. He was later taken to Nandyal Government hospital for treatment.
The police registered a case against Akhila Priya under Sections 324, 307, 120B, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Meanwhile, Akhila Priya too filed a counter case against Subba Reddy and his followers.
Sources said that both Akhilapriya and AV Subba Reddy have been eying the TDP ticket from Nandyal Assembly constituency in the 2024 elections. This is not the first time that both of the groups have been into fights
