TDP suspends Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam over sexual assault claims

Tirupati: The TDP has suspended Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimulam following allegations of sexual assault against him.

A woman TDP leader from the Satyavedu constituency of Tirupati district has filed the complaint, accusing Koneti Adimulam of assaulting and harassing her. She wrote to chief minister Nara Chandrababu Babu Naidu complaining against the MLA.

Addressing the media at the press club in Hyderabad, the TDP woman leader has released clippings of the MLA assaulting her. She alleged that the MLA people were threatening to kill her family members.

In a letter written to CM Naidu, the 36-year-old woman accused the MLA of assaulting her and threatening her.

According to the woman, she had been working as the TDP Mahila Wing president, even before Adimulam joined the party from the YSRCP.

ā€œI was with the party in every fight of the TDP against the YSRCP and also protested against the corruption by Adimulam while he was in YSRCP. At the same time, Adimulam joined the party. Along with the other women cadre across the constituency, I worked hard to make the MLA win during the elections. However, after he won as MLA, he started harassing me to fulfil his desires,ā€ wrote the woman leader in a letter to CM Naidu.

She alleged that the MLA used to send her vulgar messages and video calls at odd hours. The woman was asked to come to a hotel where Adimulam assaulted her, she alleged.

The woman then informed her husband about the harassment. Both decided to reveal his acts to the party. In July, she went to a hotel along with the MLA, where she recorded the assault in a pen camera.

The MLA allegedly assaulted many women in a similar way. The woman leader in the letter requested CM Naidu to take serious action against Adimulam.
