TDP third list: Ex-IPS officer Teneti Krishna Prasad to contest from Bapatla
By Sistla Dakshina Murthy Published on 22 March 2024 11:29 AM GMTVijayawada: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu announced the party’s third list with 11 MLA and 13 MP candidates that the party will be contesting in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP).
Former Telangana IPS officer to contest from Bapatla
Interestingly, the TDP leadership will be fielding Telangana cadre, 1984 batch former IPS officer Teneti Krishna Prasad from the Bapatla Lok Sabha seat.
He was born in Hyderabad in 1960 and pursued his education at NIT Warangal and IIM Ahmedabad. Krishna Prasad played a crucial role in bringing the Maoists into the limelight and he even worked as Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada. Recently, he anticipated a ticket from the Warangal MP seat from the BJP.
11 MLA candidates – Hits and Misses
Of the total 175 Legislative Assembly seats in the State, the TDP will contest 144. So far, it has announced candidates for 139 Assembly segments.
Bode Prasad and Somireddi Chandramohan Reddy, who were denied tickets in the second list, were given a chance to contest from Penamaluru and Sarvepalli Assembly constituencies in the third list.
Vasantha Krishna Prasad, who switched loyalties from the YSRCP to the TDP recently, is going to contest from Mylavaram.
The TDP senior leader and former minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao failed to find a place in the third list. Gouthu Sireesha, who lost in the 2019 Assembly elections is once again given a chance to contest from Palasa.
Meet the MP candidates
The 13 MP candidates announced by the TDP include Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu (Srikakulam), Mathukumilli Bharat (Visakhapatnam), Ganti Harish Madhur (Amalapuram), Putta Mahesh Yadav (Eluru), Kesineni Sivanath (Vijayawada), Pemmasani Chandrasekhar (Guntur), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (Narasaraopet), T Krishna Prasad (Bapatla), Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy (Nellore), Daggumalla Prasad Rao (Chittoor), Balusupati Nagaraju (Panchalingala Nagaraju) (Kurnool), Byreddy Shabari (Nandyal), and BK Parthasarathi (Hindupur).
Among the two MPs from the YSRCP, who switched their loyalties to the TDP, Naidu has given a chance only to Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu to contest from Narasaraopet, while Sanjay Kumar was denied a ticket from the Kurnool Lok Sabha seat.
Another Rajya Sabha MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy from the YSRCP who joined the TDP recently has been given a chance to contest from the Nellore Lok Sabha seat.
