Techie assaults ASHA worker at Khairatabad UPHC, police register case

Hyderabad: Khairatabad Police have registered a case against a techie for allegedly assaulting an ASHA health worker at Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC) in Khairatabad on Wednesday.

Identified as Rajesh, the 24-year-old techie had come to UPHC for a jab. Police said around 4 pm on Wednesday, Rajesh came to the UPHC and informed them about his registration and slot details. The staff informed him that the vaccination for the day has completed and there are no doses available.

They also informed him that though he did not belong to the emergency category of 45 years and above, they are ready to administer the vaccine since he had already registered. But since there was no vaccine available, they cannot inoculate him.

Irked by the response, he picked up an argument and created a ruckus at the center. When the staff started filming him, he charged at a woman staff member and snatched her mobile. A scuffle ensued and he received injuries.

Based on a complaint from the staff, police registered a case against Rajesh. He will be arrested and produced before the court, police said.
