Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accepted the resignation of its Telangana MLA T. Raja Singh, nearly two weeks after he stepped down in protest against the appointment of N. Ramchander Rao as the party’s state president.

Resignation accepted with immediate effect

In a letter issued on Friday, BJP national general secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh informed Raja Singh that his resignation was accepted with immediate effect as directed by party president J.P. Nadda.

Referring to Singh’s resignation letter dated June 30 addressed to then state president G. Kishan Reddy, Arun Singh stated, ā€œThe contents mentioned by you are irrelevant and do not match the functioning, ideology, and principle of the party.ā€

Protest over State President appointment

Raja Singh, a three-time MLA from Goshamahal constituency and a prominent Hindutva hardliner, resigned after he was denied permission to file nomination for the state president post. His resignation came soon after the BJP’s central leadership conveyed its choice of N. Ramchander Rao to lead the state unit.

Criticism of decision-making process

In his resignation letter, Singh expressed shock and disappointment over Ramchander Rao’s appointment, claiming it demoralised lakhs of party workers. He said, ā€œAt a time when BJP stands at the threshold of forming its first government in Telangana, such a choice raises serious doubts about the direction we are heading.ā€

Singh further alleged that some individuals driven by personal interests misled the central leadership and took decisions ā€œfrom behind the curtain,ā€ undermining the sacrifices of grassroots workers and risking avoidable setbacks for the party.

Commitment to Hindutva Continues

Raja Singh announced that his resignation from the BJP has been accepted by party president J.P. Nadda. Reflecting on his 11-year journey with the BJP, Singh said he had joined the party with the aim of serving the people, the nation, and protecting Hindutva.

He expressed gratitude to the BJP leadership for reposing faith in him by giving him the party ticket from Goshamahal for three consecutive Telangana Assembly elections. Singh clarified that his decision to resign was not driven by any desire for position, power, or personal gain.

"Perhaps I could not convey the pain of lakhs of BJP workers, who are working tirelessly to form a BJP government in Telangana, to the party leadership in Delhi," he said.

Reiterating his commitment, Singh added, ā€œI was born to serve Hindutva, and till my last breath, I will continue to work for Hindutva, nationalism, and Sanatan Dharma. I will keep raising my voice for society and for the rights of Hindus till my final breath.ā€
