From Rythu Bandhu to Kaleshwaram: Telangana Cabinets 6 key decisions

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Cabinet, led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, listed for the media, crucial decisions they have taken so far for public welfare, at the Secretariat here on Tuesday.

Six major points regarding the Telangana Cabinetā€™s decisions stand out.

These include:

Housing for poor: The Cabinet explained the approval of the Indiramma housing scheme which will enable the construction of 3,500 houses in each Assembly constituency in the first phase of its implementation. They said that 4.5 lakh houses will be built this year with an outlay of Rs 22,500 crores.

Ration cards: The Cabinet said that it will give its approval to process white ration cards for eligible beneficiaries soon and the guidelines will be formulated in a couple of days.

Corporations for communities: The Cabinet said it has agreed to set up 16 corporations for OBCs, SCs and STs which include:

- Mudiraj Corporation

- Yadava Kurma Corporation

- Munnurukapu Corporation

- Padmasali Corporation

- Perika Corporation

- Medara Corporation

- Gangaputra Corporation

- Lingayath Corporation

- Welfare board for economically backward classes

- Aryavysya Corporation

- Reddy Corporation

- Mala and its subsectsā€™ corporation

- Madiga and its subsectsā€™ corporation

- Komaram Bheem Adivasi Corporation

- Sant Sevalal Lambadi Corporation

- Ekalavya Corporation

Womenā€™s empowerment: For the upliftment of women in the state, the Cabinet announced that 25-30 acres near Outer Ring Road will be earmarked for setting up bazaars exclusively for women.

Kaleshwaram Project: The Cabinet said that it approved the setting up of a judicial commission to probe the irregularities and corruption allegedly committed in the Kaleshwaram Project. It will be headed by former Supreme Court judge Pinakini Chandra Ghosh and the report will be submitted within 100 days.

Similarly, a commission headed by retired Justice L Narasimha Reddy will enquire about the irregularities in the Bhadradri and Yadadri power projects. The commission will also look into the power purchase agreement the previous government made with the Chattisgarh government.

Rythu Bandu: The Cabinet declared that 84 per cent of beneficiaries have received Rythu Bandhu aid so far and, in the next two days, it will reach 93 per cent.

Speaking about other welfare initiatives, the Cabinet said that it has agreed to provide jobs to DSC-2008 qualified teachers. It said it will take steps to ensure that there is no drinking water scarcity during the coming summer season. The Civil Supplies department has been asked to submit a report on segregating white ration cards and Aarogyasri cards.
