Telangana Cabinet to invite Sonia Gandhi to State Formation celebrations on June 2
The Cabinet has also decided to invite to the celebrations those who have worked for the formation of Telangana.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 20 May 2024 4:40 PM GMTHyderabad: The Telangana Government has decided to invite Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to a public meeting that will be organised to commemorate 10 years of Telangana State formation on June 2.
The Telangana Congress government took this decision during the State Cabinet meeting held on Monday. Several key issues were also discussed during the three-hour meeting which included the process for the collection of paddy from farmers, modernisation of government schools and repairs to the damaged barrages of the Kaleshwaram project.
Buying rain-hit paddy at MSP
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said that the government has decided to buy paddy that has been affected by untimely rains in May at MSP.
āThe government has already purchased 36 metric tons of paddy and will pay the farmers within five days of weighing the grains,ā the minister said. The collection of grains has been the fastest in the last 10 years, he added.
Srinivasa Reddy said, the government has decided to give a bonus of Rs 500 per quintal to Sanna Vadlu from the next season and added that strict action will be taken against those selling fake seeds.
The minister ordered the collectors to make sure that the paddy procurement is done to the last grain to avoid loss to the farmers.
Rs 600 crores allocated for State schools
Speaking about the Cabinet decision to update the government schools in the State, IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu said that a committee has been formed for the creation of basic facilities in the school and bring changes to the education system.
āAbout Rs 600 crores will be allocated for modernisation of schools,ā he declared and said that a Cabinet sub-committee will work for the maintenance of schools through the Amma Adarsha Patashala panel.
Kaleshwaram project
Minister Komati Reddy Venkat Reddy said the Cabinet will follow the recommendations given by the NDSA report on the damages to the Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages of the Kaleshwaram project.
āThe NDSA report stated that the water should not be stored in Medigadda, Annaram and Sundilla barrages. We will examine the safety of the barrages with an expert committee and based on the report, we will take up repairs,ā the minister said. He said the Cabinet will look into the possibility of lifting water at a low cost.
Telangana State Formation Day celebrations
Apart from inviting Sonia Gandhi, the Cabinet has also decided to invite to the celebrations those who have worked for the formation of Telangana.
Since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are in progress, we have decided to write a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct the celebrations, the ministers said.
