Telangana CM Revanth Reddy distributes ₹5 lakh ex-gratia to 44 Madina bus tragedy victims’ families
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday distributed Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia cheques to the families of 44 Hyderabad residents who lost their lives in the November 17, 2025 Madina bus accident in Saudi Arabia, reiterating that the State Government stands firmly with citizens in times of tragedy.
In addition to the compensation for the deceased, Rs 3 lakh was also provided to one injured survivor of the accident.
Ex-gratia for victims’ families
The Chief Minister said that although governments do not ordinarily extend compensation for accidents occurring outside India, the State Cabinet made a special decision after reviewing the distressing circumstances faced by the bereaved families.
He emphasized that the government’s foremost responsibility is to instill confidence among citizens that it stands by them during moments of grief and uncertainty.
Immediate response after the tragedy
Recalling the sequence of events, Revanth Reddy said he immediately contacted the Union Government upon learning about the accident and ensured swift coordination for relief measures.
He deputed Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin to Madina to oversee relief efforts and assist the affected families.
The Chief Minister added that inviting the families to the Secretariat and personally handing over the compensation was a gesture of solidarity and support.
He also reiterated that the government remains committed to supporting affected families and ensuring that no citizen feels abandoned during times of tragedy.
