Hyderabad: Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Digvijay Singh have chipped in to quell infighting in the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).
This follows the tussle between those claiming to be "real Congress leaders" and those who have been labeled as "migrants".
TPCC leaders led by Capt Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka have raised the banner of revolt against so-called migrant leaders who they accuse of trying to hijack TPCC with their followers. When the issue hit the headlines, Congress leaders met to avoid further damage.
As many as 13 Congress leaders who got important positions in recently formed TPCC resigned after senior leaders termed them a "Migrant Gang".
The infighting sent alarm bells ringing in the party. Sensing trouble, Singh and Gandhi intervened to set the house in order.
It is learnt that Capt Reddy has told the high command that his camp was only trying to "Save Congress". Concerted efforts are underway to mend the relationship between both camps.
The infighting has also not gone down well in party rank and file. Sources said that Singh is likely to visit Hyderabad to take stock of the situation.
The second rung leadership supports TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy for his stand against BRS. Sources in AICC said Rahul Gandhi is in favor of Revanth and that is the reason he is making his decisions which hurts senior leaders.
TPCC Chief has consistently challenged the BRS. He is also vocal against the "family rule" in BRS. It is also believed that the younger leaders are supporting A Revanth Reddy for his opposition to the ruling BRS.
