Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced the introduction of a comprehensive policy to attract higher CSR funds and their effective utilisation across sectors.
Push to increase CSR share
Expressing concern over Telangana’s modest share of CSR funds, currently around just three per cent of the national total, the Chief Minister underscored the urgent need to improve both inflow and utilisation of corporate contributions within the state.
He directed officials to adopt proactive measures to encourage industries and corporate entities operating in Telangana to allocate a larger portion of their CSR spending locally.
Annual felicitation for top contributors
As part of efforts to incentivise corporate participation, the Chief Minister proposed organising annual felicitation events to honour companies that make significant CSR contributions.
These recognitions will be integrated into the State Formation Day celebrations, aiming to publicly acknowledge and motivate corporate entities to actively engage in developmental initiatives.
Dedicated CSR cell to be established
To streamline coordination and monitoring, the state government will set up a dedicated CSR cell at the state level with a separate office.
This specialised unit will oversee ongoing CSR initiatives by corporate firms, facilitate collaboration with various government departments, and identify projects that can be funded through CSR contributions.
Telangana CSR portal approved
In a major step towards improving accessibility and transparency, the Chief Minister approved the creation of a ‘Telangana CSR Portal’.
The portal will act as a centralised digital platform connecting corporate organisations with the state government. It will host detailed information on projects across departments that are open for CSR funding, enabling companies to easily identify and invest in initiatives aligned with their priorities.
Revanth Reddy emphasised that the portal must be user-friendly and engaging to ensure seamless interaction and participation from corporate stakeholders.
Learning from other states
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to study successful CSR mobilisation strategies adopted by other states.
He stressed that the upcoming policy should incorporate best practices and innovative approaches to attract corporate investment, thereby increasing Telangana’s share in national CSR contributions.
Focus on effective utilisation
Apart from increasing inflows, the government is equally focused on ensuring optimal utilisation of CSR funds.
Officials have been directed to implement strict monitoring mechanisms to ensure that CSR contributions are efficiently deployed for impactful development projects within the state.
With these measures, the Telangana government aims to position itself as a preferred destination for CSR investments while accelerating socio-economic development through stronger corporate partnerships, officials said.
