Parivar Raaj not cooperating with Centre, delays projects: PM Modi takes on CM KCR

Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official visit to Hyderabad on Saturday, made a scathing attack on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao-run Telangana government, blaming them for delaying Central projects. The PM called the BRS party ‘Parivar Raaj’ and accused them of diverting Central government funds for corruption. “The BRS government in Telangana is not cooperating with the Centre in the execution of programmes aimed for development,” he said.

Addressing a gathering at the Parade Grounds, Modi, in his usual style, attempted to interact with the audience. He asked them if they were against corruption and family rule. Succinctly, he alleged that a handful of people in Telangana are corrupt and run a family-led government. “This handful of people is intimidated by the Central government. They do not like others controlling the government. They only believe in family rule and have no love or vision for the state. They look for their selfish gain in every project or investment. This pains me, as the biggest sufferers from this non-cooperation are the people of Telangana.”

Prime Minister said that dynasts want to keep their control over every system and hate it when someone challenges their control. Giving the example of the Direct Benefit Transfer system and the promotion of digital payment across the country, the Prime Minister pointed fingers at the dynastic forces that kept control of which beneficiary would get what benefit and elaborated on the three meanings that emerge from this situation. Firstly, the Prime Minister said, the family should continue to be praised, secondly, the money of corruption should keep coming to the family, and thirdly, the money that is sent to the poor should continue to be received by the corrupt ecosystem. “Today Modi has attacked this real root of corruption. That's why these people are shaken and anything that is being done is out of anger”, Shri Modi said referring to the political parties who moved to court as a protest but were dealt with a shock.

“The true spirit of the Constitution is realized when work is done with the spirit of Sabka Vikas (everyone's development) strengthening democracy in the true sense. The Prime Minister reiterated that the entire country is watching the result of the central government being freed from the shackles of dynastic politics in 2014. He informed that in the last 9 years, 11 crore mothers, sisters and daughters of the country have got the facility of toilets which included more than 30 lakh families from Telangana. He further added that more than 9 crore sisters and daughters in the country have got free Ujjwala gas connections which included more than 11 lakh poor families of Telangana in the last 9 years.

Ahead of the inauguration of the 125-foot BR Ambedkar statue in Hyderabad, the Prime Minister attempted to co-relate the ideology of the social reformer. “Democracy gets its strength when the government works with commitment, and with this aspiration, my (NDA-led government) moves forward.

On Saturday afternoon, after the inauguration of the Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express, Modi gave a public speech at the Parade Grounds. “Today, over Rs 11,800 crore projects have been gifted to Telangana. These projects are related to rail and road infrastructure. I congratulate the people of Telangana,” said the PM. Modi, who referred to Hyderabad as Bhagya Lakshmi city in his speech, said Vande Bharat will connect the city to Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirupati.

Telangana Chief Minister skips Modi’s programme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was welcomed by Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and senior leaders of the BJP party including party president Bandi Sanjay, who is currently on bail. However, what caught the eye of many is the absence of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, though not surprising. This marks the 5th time KCR gave a miss to welcome the PM in 14 months. Besides this, the CM was also given a slot of 20 minutes during the inauguration of the Vande Bhara Express. However, it was cut short owing to his absence.

Minister and Secunderabad MP Kishen Reddy pulls crowd

Besides BJP party leaders, functionaries and their followers--senior citizens to children to youth--marked their presence for the public meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parade Grounds on Saturday morning. Crowds from the surrounding Secunderabad urban slums made their way to the grounds. G Kishen Reddy, besides being the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture and North Eastern states development, represents Secunderabad Parliament Constituency in the Lok Sabha. The spree of inaugurations in rail and road infrastructure for Telangana is also likely to be Kishen Reddy’s pitch for the coming General Elections.
