Telangana government releases guidelines for crop loan waiver

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government on Monday released the guidelines for the implementation of crop loan waiver for the farmers. As per the guidelines, each family would be paid up to Rs 2 lakh crop loan waiver.

The crop loans obtained by the farmers between December 11, 2018, to December 9, 2023, would be waived.

The scheme is not applicable to those who obtained loans after the Congress came to power in December 2023 and this loan waiver is applicable to the farmerā€™s family ration card as standard for identification.

A special website and department to be set up

A special web portal would be set up for crop loan waiver and the money would be directly deposited in the loan accounts of the beneficiaries. The loan waiver amount would be released in ascending order. The waiver is not applicable for SHC, JL, RMG, LSECS loans and rescheduled loans.

The government has said that a special department would be set up to clear the doubts of farmers on loan waivers. It has issued instructions to the concerned authorities to solve the farmerā€™s problems within 30 days. Congress Government will waive off crop loans by August 15: Uttam Kumar Reddy

Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy reiterated that the Congress Government in Telangana would waive off the crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15.

He made these remarks during the ceremony where TPCC Kishan Cell President S Anvesh Reddy assumed office as the chairman of the Telangana State Seeds Development Corporation Limited.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress Government was committed to waiving crop loans in a single take to relieve farmers from debt burdens. This would enable lakhs of farmers to use their incomes for economic growth. He said that the process of waiving crop loans has already been initiated, and as announced by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the crop loans would be waived off by August 15.
