Telangana govt hikes DA by 2.1% for TGSRTC employees

Hyderabad: In a major relief to employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), the State government has announced a 2.1 per cent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), raising it from 50.7 to 52.8 per cent.

The announcement was made by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, who said the revised DA will be implemented with effect from January 1, 2026.

Arrears to be paid in instalments

The government will clear DA arrears for the past three months through supplementary bills, disbursing them over the next three months.

Financial impact on RTC

The DA hike will impose an additional monthly financial burden of ₹2.82 crore on the corporation.

Second DA hike within a year

This is the second DA hike in recent months. In July 2025, the government had increased DA by 2.1 per cent, from 48.6 to 50.7 per cent. With the latest revision, the DA now stands at 52.8 per cent.

No pending DA dues

Officials stated that following the implementation of the RPS-2017 in May 2024, there are no pending DA dues for RTC employees.

Government focus on employee welfare

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar reiterated that the government is committed to strengthening RTC and prioritising employee welfare and passenger convenience.

He highlighted several initiatives, including:

- Upgradation of healthcare facilities for employees

- Compassionate appointments

- Reinstatement of long-removed staff through a three-member committee

- New recruitments to reduce workload

- Procurement of new buses

‘RTC lifeline for Telangana’

The minister emphasised that RTC is the lifeline of Telangana and called for collective efforts to further strengthen the organisation and expand its reach among the public.

MD welcomes decision

TGSRTC managing director V Nagi Reddy welcomed the announcement, stating that employees had been awaiting the DA hike for a long time. He reiterated that employee welfare remains a top priority for the organisation.
