Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy decided to this effect during a meeting with senior officials, including minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
He instructed the officials to make the necessary arrangements for the launch of the housing programme for the poor in the state. As part of the implementation of the Congressā Six Guarantees, the government will take up the ambitious housing scheme as a prestigious programme, he said.
Praja Palana registrations to get priority
The chief minister asked officials to make sure that those who qualify for the program are impoverished. The eligible individuals who registered their names during the Praja Palana initiative should receive priority, he said, and the appropriate modalities should be prepared.
Owners of land plots will receive Rs 5 lakhs under the Indiramma Housing Scheme to build a new house on their site. A residential plot and Rs 5 lakhs will be handed to the impoverished homeless. The chief minister gave instructions to officials to draft policies for allocating funds at various building stages. Stringent regulations had to be formulated to avert any potential misappropriation of monies intended for distribution to program participants, he added.
District collectors to supervise construction
Revanth Reddy suggested the officials produce several housing models and designs that would be helpful to those who construct homes. Although recipients were allowed to build the homes according to their goals and specifications, officials were urged to make sure that each home included a kitchen and a bathroom. The district collectors should oversee the engineering wings in their respective departments for the task of supervising the construction of houses, he added.
