Telangana has over 2.95 crore voters: Chief Electoral Officer

By Newsmeter Network Published on 10 Nov 2022 11:00 AM GMTHyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj on Thursday said Telangana has a total of 2,95,80,736 voters, including 14,858,887 male voters, 14,702,391 female voters, and about 1,654 third-gender voters in the 33 districts of the state.
He said a draft Special Summary Revision (SSR) was published on 9 November.
The CEO further said the state has 119 constituencies and 34,891 polling stations. Excluding special categories like 'Others', and NRIs, the total number of general electors in the state is 29,562,932, the CEO said. About 2,737 NRI electors and 15,067 service electors have also registered, he said.

With regard to changes from the previous SSR 2022, he said the SSR-2021 final roll published on 5 January 2022 had 30,356,894 electors. About 345,648 additions were made to the rolls while 1,136,873 electors were deleted as continuous updates were carried on.
The CEO said as part of claims and objections, people can submit their applications in the prescribed form to be enrolled as voters. He further said a person whose name has been deleted from the electoral roll wrongfully can file an appeal under Section 24 of the Representation of People's Act 1950 within the prescribed period of 15 days to the district election officer or submit Form-6 any time during the summary revision exercise.
He further said that during the SSR period, the DEOs have been directed to have weekly meetings with political parties and give them details of forms received and action taken on them as per directions of the ECI. All political parties are also requested to appoint booth-level agents.
