Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court dismissed requests seeking a direction to set aside a previous court order on the Group-1 Preliminary Examination.

An HC Division Bench dismissed two writ appeals on Friday which challenged an October 15 order by Justice Pulla Karthik who refused to cancel the Group-1 Preliminary Examination.

Group-1 Main exam as scheduled

The Group-1 Main examination will commence on October 21 as usual.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari on Thursday said all arrangements have been made for the Group 1 services mains examinations to be held from October 21 to 27 even though several aspirants held protests demanding the rescheduling of the test.

Several aspirants held a protest at a park at Gandhi Nagar here, demanding the postponement of the exams. The protesters held placards that read ā€˜reschedule Group-1 exams - save Group 1 aspirantsā€™. The protesting aspirants were later taken away by police.

31,383 candidates in 46 centres

There are 31,383 candidates who are appearing for the Group 1 mains. There are 46 centres in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajigiri districts.

Cyberabad police issues notification

As part of the security measures for the Group-1 exam, police have prohibited the assembly of five or more persons in a 200-meter radius around all examination centres. Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, Avinash Mohanty, IPS issued the orders for the smooth conduct of the exams from October 21-27 from 2 to 5 pm.

Xerox and Internet centres within 100 meters of the examination centres have been asked to shut shop too.
