Hyderabad: The state government has enhanced the honorarium and conveyance allowance of mayors/deputy mayors, chairpersons/vice-chairpersons, corporators/ward members, and co-option members of Urban Local Bodies by 30 percent.
The increase will be reflected in the figures from June 2021.
"Government after careful examination of the matter, hereby orders to enhance the honorarium of 30 percent to the existing Honorarium including conveyance Allowance payable to the Mayors/Deputy Mayors, Chairpersons/ Vice-Chairpersons and Corporators/Ward members/ Co-option members of Urban Local Bodies in the state with effect from 01.06.2021, payable in the month of July 2021," said C Sudarshan Reddy, Secretary, Municipal Administration, and Urban Development department in its order.
In category-I, covering 13 municipal corporations, including the GHMC, the mayor's honorarium has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 65,000 and deputy mayor's from Rs 25,000 to Rs 32,500. The honorarium of ward members and corporators has been hiked from Rs 6,000 to Rs 7,800.
In category-II, covering 37 Municipalities with more than 50,000 Population as per the 2011 Census, the Chairperson's honorarium has been increased from Rs 15,000 to Rs 19,500 and Vice Chairperson's from Rs 7,500 to Rs 9,750. The honorarium of ward members has been hiked from Rs 3,500 to Rs 4,550.
In category-III covering 97 Municipalities with less than 50,000 Population, the Chairperson's honorarium has been increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,600 and Vice Chairperson from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,500. The honorarium of ward members has been hiked from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,250.
