Hyderabad: The state government has set February 28 as the deadline for completing the works on Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Sanathnagar.
This follows the inspection of the special chief secretary on Friday. The state government is planning to inaugurate the facility in March.
Acting on instructions from the Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, and Minister for Roads and Buildings, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the special chief secretary of transport, roads, and buildings led an extensive review of the facility. The inspection team—which included the Director of Medical Education (DME) and representatives from the EPC contractor, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) surveyed critical areas across all floors, including Emergency wards, ICUs, and Operating Theatres.
Operational Readiness & Staffing
To ensure the hospital is "clinical-ready" from day one, several key milestones have been established:
Infrastructure: Completion of 200 oxygen lines, 65 nursing stations, and a dedicated RO plant for the Emergency ward by the month-end.
Staffing: The first batch of 100 medical, paramedical, and housekeeping staff will be deployed between February 12 and February 28.
Trial Runs: Equipment installation is already complete under the EPC scope, while the procurement of an additional 540 specialized medical tools is currently underway. Trial runs for all systems are scheduled to begin immediately following staff deployment.
Room Handover: A joint inspection team has already verified 225 out of 1,059 rooms. Over 500 more rooms are expected to be handed over by February 9.
Interim arrangements for critical services like liquid oxygen supply and sanitation will be supported by contractors from existing government hospitals to ensure a seamless transition.
The Vision for TIMS Sanathnagar
The Sanathnagar facility is part of a grander vision to decentralize super-specialty healthcare in Hyderabad, reducing the heavy burden on legacy institutions like Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and Gandhi Hospital.
Project Origins & Scope
The foundation stone for the Sanathnagar TIMS was laid in April 2022. It is one of three major super-specialty hospitals (alongside Alwal and LB Nagar) commissioned to provide high-end healthcare to different corners of the city.
