Hyderabad: The inauguration ceremony of the new Secretariat of Telangana has been postponed due to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The secretariat complex was slated to be inaugurated on February 17,
Election Code came into force in view of the notification issued for the biennial election to Teachers MLC and Hyderabad Local body MLC constituency.
State Chief Secretary consulted the Central Election Commission about the opening ceremony of the Secretariat. Since the Commission has not given go ahead, the inauguration program has been postponed for the time being.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was to inaugurate the new Secretariat Complex on February 17, on his birthday.
Located near Hussain Sagar Lake, the seven-storied secretariat building is nearing completion. With an area of 7 lakh feet, over Rs 600 crore was spent on the construction new secretariat complex. City police had also planned traffic regulations to ensure the free movement of dignitaries and VVIPS.
The next date of inauguration will be announced.
