Revanth Reddy appealed to all the farmers to understand the present situation.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 March 2024 6:21 AM GMTHyderabad: Come summer, Telangana may face drought as the reservoirs are fast drying up.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the state is staring at drought-like conditions with water levels depleting in all reservoirs and called upon farmers to understand the situation and extend their cooperation to govt to collectively face and overcome the problem.
The CM spoke about the drought situation during the launch of the āRythu Nesthamā program through a virtual link from his residence and interacted with the farmers on Wednesday.
Reacting to his statement on the drought situation, BRS party working president KTR wrote on X saying, "According to the IMD weather calculations, 14% excess rainfall has been recorded in Telangana for the year 2023-24. It is ironic to talk about deficit rainfall without being able to solve the water problems! Congress, which came to power with lies and false promises, is now speaking untruthful words,".
He stated that the farmers of Telangana would understand the powerlessness of the Congress within three months of solving the problems of the farmers.
While the farmers and leaders of Karimnagar, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Mahabubnagar districts are demanding the release of water from the reservoirs, Revanth Reddy appealed to all the farmers to understand the present situation. "The drought situation will be tackled collectively. Due to deficit rainfall this year, water levels in the reservoirs are depleted and hence the water crisis is looming large in the state", said Revanth Reddy.
He appealed to the farmers not to lose heart even during hardships as the government is ready to support the farming community. He assured that the state government will support the farmers in the difficult drought conditions
CM said that the Telangana government is already making the required arrangements to solve the drinking water crisis in the ensuing summer.
