Telangana Transport Dept achieves 83.16% revenue target; earns ₹7,097.38 Cr in FY26

Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Department has generated revenue of ₹7,097.38 crore in the financial year 2025–26.
The department has achieved 83.16 percent of its revenue target, according to an official statement.
The department also recorded a modest growth rate of 2.70% compared to the previous financial year, reflecting steady performance despite evolving policy shifts and incentives.
Revenue breakdown
A major share of the revenue came from lifetime taxes, which contributed ₹4,714.63 crore. Quarterly taxes accounted for ₹961.02 crore, while green tax collections stood at ₹78.35 crore.
In addition, ₹820.09 crore was generated through fees and service charges. Enforcement activities also contributed significantly, with ₹212.49 crore collected through inspections and ₹310.80 crore through challans.
Target vs Achievement
For the period between April and December in the 2025–26 financial year, the department had set a revenue target of ₹8,535 crore. Against this, it managed to collect ₹7,097.38 crore, achieving 83.16% of the target.
Year-on-Year Growth
The department reported a 2.70% increase in revenue compared to the 2024–25 financial year, indicating incremental growth amid changing trends in vehicle usage and taxation.
Push for Electric Vehicles
As part of its efforts to promote eco-friendly transportation, the department provided substantial tax relief for electric vehicles. A total of 91,637 electric vehicles received lifetime tax exemptions amounting to ₹769.81 crore during 2025–26.
Officials stated that these incentives are aimed at encouraging the adoption of electric mobility and reducing environmental impact, even as it temporarily impacts revenue collections.
