Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced road construction projects worth Rs 60,799 crore, marking the largest infrastructure investment in the state’s history.
Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the projects are designed to enhance connectivity, attract multinational companies, and create employment opportunities for rural youth.
Statewide road expansion to transform Telangana
The minister highlighted that large-scale road development will position Telangana as a preferred destination for global investors. “These projects will attract investments worth lakhs of crores and generate jobs for rural youth, transforming Telangana into a major industrial hub,” he said.
Hyderabad–Vijayawada Highway widening
The Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway will be expanded from four lanes to eight lanes, covering the stretch from Abdullapur industrial park to Vijayawada.
Six lanes will serve as the main carriageway, while two lanes will be service roads to improve safety and convenience for local communities. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 10,400 crore.
Regional Ring Road to boost connectivity
The ambitious Regional Ring Road (RRR) project, designed to connect all districts, has been allotted Rs 36,000 crore. Built as a six-lane expressway, the state government will bear 50% of the cost. Officials said this road will significantly enhance connectivity and promote balanced regional development.
Rural Roads and HAM Projects
Single-lane roads in rural areas will be upgraded to double lanes to improve accessibility. Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) projects worth Rs 11,399 crore will be rolled out soon, with tenders to be invited shortly. Road clearances will be granted based on traffic congestion studies to ensure efficient implementation.
Elevated Corridors and Greenfield Highways
Plans for a 52 km elevated corridor from Mannanur to Srisailam, costing Rs 8,000 crore, are in the final approval stages. Another major project, a Greenfield Highway connecting Future City to Bandar Port via Amaravati, is planned at an estimated Rs 20,000 crore. These initiatives are expected to reshape the state’s transport and industrial landscape.
Focus on Safety and Continuous Oversight
The minister assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure road safety and minimize accidents. He thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, and the people of Nalgonda constituency for supporting this historic development.
Highlighting active leadership, Komatireddy added that the Chief Minister personally reviews project progress every 15 days and discusses approvals with Union Ministers during Delhi visits. “This has resulted in remarkable progress in the roads sector and a transformative phase in my political career,” he said.
